ROSE-CUT DIAMONDS

Rose-cut diamonds are a classic style of diamond cutting that dates back to the 16th century.

Shape: Rose-cut diamonds usually have a flat base with a domed crown that has a variable number of facets arranged in a symmetrical pattern.

The crown is shaped like a rosebud, hence the name rose-cut.

Facets: Rose-cut diamonds can have between 3 and 24 facets, with a common configuration being a central area called a table, surrounded by triangular or rhomboid-shaped facets arranged in concentric circles.

Appearance: The flat bottom of a rose-cut diamond gives it a unique appearance, with a gentle rise towards the centre where the facets converge. This creates a soft glow and subtle play of light compared to the sparkle of today s brilliant-cut diamonds.

Historical Significance: Rose-cut diamonds were popular during the Renaissance and Baroque periods, making them a favourite choice for antique jewellery.

Modern Revival: In recent years, there has been a resurgence of interest in rose-cut diamonds among designers and jewellery enthusiasts who appreciate vintage-inspired designs.
